Kicks means to me that I get to have fun and freedom to progress myself to be a better footballer and to learn new things out of my comfort zone and to help one another in football to succeed.
Kicks is a place where I feel comfortable and I get to meet new people and create new bonds as well as playing football. The coaching staff are great and I love to help the younger girls improve at the same time.
Fulham Kicks is an amazing thing and brings youths that love football together and teaches people new skills, they gave me the chance to complete my FA Level 1.
Kicks means a lot to me, I have made amazing new friends as well as gained great opportunities. I have also met inspirational mentors too! It’s got me through some challenging times, I’ve gained more confidence and I can’t wait to get back to it!
Kicks creates a safe and friendly environment providing a secure structure in the community bringing teenagers together providing us with a fun and engaging exercise. Personally, it reminds me why I enjoy playing football.
I have a lot of good memories at Kicks, my best one has got to be when one night at Kicks I saved about 4 penalties. It just made me feel really good about myself and everyone was congratulating me. My other best memories are also: Colchester trip, winning Kicks League and getting signed for FC Porto of London.
I enjoy going to football at Fulham because I like that I can meet new people from different countries, and it has helped me to develop as a player. I like that everyone can play even if they don't have many skills. It has given me the opportunity to be a coach, so I have the ability to help others.
Kicks for me is an opportunity to develop positive relationships with young people, develop their social skills and a chance for us all to learn from each other.
Kicks has taught me a lot of life lessons and made me the person and the player I am today. Paul and the team have always believed in me as a player, even when other coaches didn’t. They introduced me to the Fulham Development Team and the College Team which changed and developed me as a player and now I have my scholarship I have been working hard to get. Without kicks I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Kicks to me is a place where I can go, feel safe and have fun. It’s where I’ve learnt so much and gained confidence within myself. I’ve been going Kicks for as long as I can remember and its not only about the football and the fun stuff, it’s about the doors it’s opened for me and I’m glad that I attended kicks with Fulham.
The Kicks programme has helped to create a very productive environment where young people come to play football, engage with their peers and coaches in a positive way, develop their knowledge and ability of the game, along with their social skills. If you add to this the fact that they are off the streets and somewhere safe where they have fun and develop great memories, then you have a programme that ticks all the boxes and goes beyond. For some of our players, it is the only thing that they really look forward to in their week, and this goes to create a strong sense of belonging that everyone needs (Police Officer).
In summary, no other organisation in the area, other than Fulham FC Foundation provides the level of sporting opportunities in a safe and enjoyable environment to young people. The coaches engage very positively with all the young people and the level of respect shown towards the coaches by the young people is testament to the fantastic coaching and opportunity afforded to these young people. I cannot stress enough how valuable the partnership between Fulham FC Foundation and Kingston Police has been and has really helped achieve positive engagement (Police Officer).
From a police point of view working with Fulham FC Foundation has been invaluable in helping us engage with a large number of local young people who we wouldn’t previously have been able to reach out to (Police Officer).
Since Kingston Met Police have teamed up with FFCF and started promoting the sessions through our local schools, it has given us as the Police the opportunity to speak to some of the young people about any concerns they have either in or out of school. It has given us a fantastic way of being able to speak to some of the children in confidence as Police, as sometimes it can be uncomfortable or difficult for them to approach us in uniform it gives them an opportunity to see us in a different way and not just Police (Police Officer).
Building a Personal Development Plan was about me writing out my thoughts and what I want to do. Setting targets meant that I could take it one step at a time to improve my communication and behaviour and gain a qualification. Fulham FC Foundation were able to help me with my targets.
This programme has helped improve and kept my son motivated and remain focus a lot from being distracted from the things that he shouldn't be attracted too. It has helped him grow a lot as well, and slowly his understanding the reason for this support and becoming more responsible as time goes by. Looking back from where he was, he always looks forward to this programme especially the football, working with the younger kids extra, also I must say it has helped me a lot in learning how to cope with his behaviour to some point.
I see the session as my break to get away from the problems in life, I love the staff and people at kicks and has helped me become a better person and boosted my confidence! Not just this but has also helped me on my future and where I want to go in life.
There is a community where everyone interacts and helps each other out to improve.
I like that as soon as you even step on the ground that you are welcomed, and that even if you are new you wouldn’t get left out and you would feel in happy in this environment.
It’s a fun and enjoyable experience with how Fulham brings different communities together and I get to meet new people, I struggled to make friends however when attending some kicks events I made good friends.
I am more aware of things and people around me. Also has changed me as a person and made understand people better.
Fulham Kicks has benefitted me by having extra training, fitness levels, making new friends, having something to do that I love.
Fulham kicks has been one of the best opportunities for me to develop as a player, mentally and physically. The coaches here are really nice and I feel a lot more confident on and off the pitch. Playing at Fulham kicks has been an incredible experience so far and I can't wait to come to kicks more in the future.
My confidence has improved as well as my football ability, I suffer with anxiety normally but when I’m with Fulham Kicks and the girls I can relax and be myself. Also a lot of people have commented how much I’ve come out of my shell and this is I think down to attending my Kicks session.
I enjoyed the session. Whenever I am here I am joyful and motivated. All the staff members and all the young people are very welcoming and simple to create friendship. I am so happy after I join this session. Thank you so much!!!
Fulham kicks has made me happy is so many ways I can’t explain. It has brought me out the house to go have fun with my friends and made me so happy.
Since attending Fulham Kicks my son is so much more confident and has a positive attitude towards school and home life. Keeping active has made him happier and his passion for football has grown. He loves being social and has made some great friends – It has been a positive effect on his overall view of life and what he plans to do in the future, its helped shape him into a really pleasant young man and I am proud of him.
I have grown in confidence; I feel fitter, and I am glad that we do not have to pay for these sessions as this helps my family - It’s been amazing and has really helped my mental health and social anxiety.
We started working with Fulham FC Foundation in early 2019 at our refugee football session in Croydon. Fulham has been a great addition to our sessions, taking it to the next level by providing professional, fun and friendly coaching. It has opened up other opportunities for our young people too, being able to participate in tournaments and attend games at Craven Cottage, giving young refugees new to the UK a great introduction to English football!
It's allowed me to see football in a different way…
